🔒 Section 01
Account Lockdown
Someone is targeting you. Do these five steps before you post, reply, or report anything. Follow them in order. Do this right now.
⛔
Do not respond yetReacting while under attack gives them more material. Secure your accounts first. Respond later.
1✓
Change your password
Do this on every platform
⌄
Use a passphrase instead of a single word. Example:
Nairobi2024!Mtaa. Keep it long and random. Avoid personal details. Change it on every platform, not only the one under attack.2✓
Turn on two-factor authentication
Blocks access even if they know your password
⌄
Navigate to Settings → Security → Two-Step Verification. Use an authenticator app. Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator are free. Avoid SMS 2FA due to SIM swapping vulnerabilities. Save backup codes in a separate notes app.
3✓
Log out of all other sessions
Remove anyone watching
⌄
Navigate to Settings → Security → Active Sessions or Devices. Look for the active sessions menu. Sign out all sessions except your current device. Do this on every platform.
4✓
Remove unknown connected apps
Third-party apps monitor your account
⌄
Navigate to Settings → Security → Apps or Connected Apps. Remove anything you do not recognise. These apps read your messages and posts.
5✓
Check linked email and phone number
Ensure these belong to you
⌄
Navigate to Account Settings → your email and phone. If either changed, someone controls your recovery. Use the platform account recovery process immediately. Contact your network provider if your number was swapped.
